about us
Welcome to The Cheshire Arms — your friendly neighbourhood British pub nestled in the heart of Black Mountain, North Carolina.

We’re Simon and Heather Townsend — one Brit, one American — who met in New York City and eventually swapped skyscrapers for mountain views. After falling head over heels for Black Mountain, we packed up our lives (and our ever-growing collection of teapots) to bring a bit of British charm to Western North Carolina.

The Cheshire Arms is our love letter to the classic British pub — cosy, welcoming, and full of proper food, good conversation, and the occasional cheeky pint. We serve up traditional fare like fish & chips, bangers & mash, and steak & ale pies alongside local beer, a thoughtful cocktail list, and plenty of warm hospitality.

You’ll find board games, comfy corners, and a little something for everyone — whether you're stopping in for a Sunday roast, joining mates for game night, or just in need of a well-poured drink and a quiet seat.

We built The Cheshire Arms to be the kind of place where locals and visitors alike feel right at home. Come as you are, bring your mates, your kids, your nan — we’ll keep the kettle warm (and the beer cold).

Cheers,
Simon & Heather
